Description: Manages ARP table configuration, static entry provisioning, and proxy-ARP settings on Paradyne Networks xDSL access devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-ARP-MIB?

PDN-ARP-MIB is a Paradyne Networks enterprise MIB for configuring and displaying ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) table behavior on Paradyne xDSL access devices. It exposes objects for global ARP timeout tuning (complete, incomplete, and default-route entry timeouts), a periodic-request table for proactively re-resolving specific IP addresses, and a configuration table for per-entry ARP settings. Its monitoring/configuration use is mostly around IP-layer connectivity health -- confirming ARP entries refresh on schedule, checking how soon a periodic ARP request will next fire for a monitored address, and validating static/dynamic ARP configuration rather than exposing hardware sensors. It builds on the standard IP-to-media (ARP) table concept from the IP-MIB, adding Paradyne-specific timeout and periodic-request behavior on top. It is deployed on Paradyne xDSL access/DSLAM equipment where administrators need finer control over ARP aging and proactive address resolution than the standard IP-MIB provides. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PDN-ARP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-ARP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne Networks xDSL access equipment/DSLAM

Monitoring Examples

An operator reads pdnNetToMediaParamsAprTable/Entry (indexed by pdnNetToMediaParamsAprIpAddr) to see pdnNetToMediaParamsAprTimeToNext and confirm a critical peer's address is being proactively re-resolved on the configured pdnNetToMediaParamsAprReqPeriod. Comparing pdnNetToMediaParamsCompEntryTimeout and pdnNetToMediaParamsIncompEntryTimeout against expected values catches misconfigured ARP aging that could cause stale entries or excessive ARP traffic. pdnNetToMediaConfigTable/Entry (by pdnNetToMediaConfigIpAddr) lets an admin confirm a specific static ARP entry's row status is active.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ARP entry timeout settings
  • periodic ARP request schedule
  • static ARP entry status
  • default-route ARP entry timeout
