Category: Environmental Monitoring

Description: Reports chassis health and operational status including fan, power supply, and temperature sensor readings on Paradyne devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-HEALTHANDSTATUS-MIB?

PDN-HEALTHANDSTATUS-MIB is a Paradyne enterprise MIB dedicated to overall chassis health and operational status reporting on Paradyne xDSL access devices. It exposes device-wide self-test results and history, an abort/failure status, a table tracking the outcome of individual SNMP SET requests, security-relevant data such as the source IP of the last authentication failure, and the text of the last trap the device generated. This is explicitly a hardware/software status-monitoring MIB -- used to confirm the device passed its self-tests, check whether it has entered a failure or abort state, verify whether recent SNMP configuration changes actually succeeded, and review the most recent alarm condition and any unauthorized access attempts. It does not declare a dependency on a standard IETF MIB, functioning as the central status/health module referenced by trap-enable settings in sibling MIBs like PDN-CONFIG-MIB. It is deployed on Paradyne xDSL access devices/DSLAMs where operators need a single place to check overall device health, self-test outcomes, and recent fault/security events via SNMP. Engineers can download the PDN-HEALTHANDSTATUS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-HEALTHANDSTATUS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne xDSL access equipment/DSLAM

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls devStatus and devHealthAndStatus to get the device's overall health summary, then checks devSelfTestResultTable/devSelfTestResults to confirm the most recent diagnostic pass succeeded. If devFailureStatus or devAbortStatus indicates a problem, devLastTrapString gives the text of the most recent alarm condition without needing separate trap logs. devSNMPSetStatusTable, keyed by devSNMPSetReqId, lets an operator confirm a previous SNMP SET actually completed rather than silently failing, and devAuthenticationFailureIpAddress flags the source of a recent unauthorized SNMP access attempt.

What Can Be Monitored

  • overall device health/status
  • self-test results
  • failure/abort status
  • SNMP SET request outcome
  • last trap/alarm text
  • authentication failure source IP
