Category: Environmental Monitoring, Server/Systems Management

Description: Manages the Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER XSCF (eXtended System Control Facility) for server board health, partition control, and environmental monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PRIMEPOWER-XSCF-MIB?

This is a Fujitsu proprietary MIB for the XSCF (eXtended System Control Facility), the service processor used in Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER (SPARC/Solaris) enterprise servers to provide out-of-band hardware management independent of the host OS. It exposes core machine identity and inventory data (machine type, CPU count, serial number, firmware/HCP versions, host and server IDs) alongside operational status indicators. This MIB is heavily oriented toward hardware and firmware status monitoring: it reports server uptime (scfServerUptime), hardware error level (scfHWErrLevel), OS status (scfOSStatus), and firmware/HCP version, making it a key tool for tracking whether a partition or the overall server chassis is healthy, has encountered hardware errors, or needs a firmware update. As a Fujitsu-specific service-processor MIB it operates independently of standard IETF MIBs, relying instead on the vendor's own enterprise tree (fujitsu, product, solaris). It is deployed on Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER servers running Solaris in enterprise and mission-critical data center environments, often supporting multi-partition configurations. Engineers can download the PRIMEPOWER-XSCF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRIMEPOWER-XSCF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER server
  • Fujitsu XSCF service processor

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll scfServerUptime and scfOSStatus together to confirm both the service processor and the Solaris OS partition are running normally, and check scfHWErrLevel to see if any hardware error has been logged at the chassis level. scfFirmVersion and scfHCPVersion let an operator verify firmware consistency across a fleet of PRIMEPOWER servers before or after a maintenance window. A nonzero scfHWErrLevel combined with an unexpectedly low scfServerUptime would suggest the server recently experienced a hardware-triggered reset.

What Can Be Monitored

  • server uptime
  • hardware error level
  • OS status
  • firmware/HCP version
