Category: Network Management
Description: Manages redundant entity (card/module) switchover configuration, protection state, and failover event history on Paradyne devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PDN-ENTITY-REDUNDANCY-MIB?
PDN-ENTITY-REDUNDANCY-MIB is a Paradyne enterprise MIB for managing redundant card/module (entity) protection, covering both configuration and runtime state of protected hardware. It exposes redundancy-selection configuration, switchover commands, per-entity alarm status, and an overall general alarm status. Its monitoring purpose is hardware health and failover status: pdnRedunStatusTable's pdnRedunEntityState shows whether a given card is active, standby, or failed, and pdnRedunGeneralAlarmStatus flags an overall redundancy fault, directly surfacing card-level hardware problems and automatic failovers. It is a standalone Paradyne enterprise MIB, conceptually parallel to general entity-redundancy/protection concepts used elsewhere in the industry. It is deployed on Paradyne access/transport chassis equipped with protected (1+1 or Y-cable) redundant cards. Engineers can download the PDN-ENTITY-REDUNDANCY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-ENTITY-REDUNDANCY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Paradyne access/transport equipment with redundant (protected) card slots
Monitoring Examples
pdnRedunStatusTable/pdnRedunStatusEntry exposes pdnRedunEntityState and pdnRedunAlarmStatus per entity, while pdnRedunCmdTable/pdnRedunCmdEntry allows issuing a pdnRedunCommand such as a forced switchover. An administrator polling pdnRedunEntityState would notice a standby card unexpectedly transition to 'active', and a raised pdnRedunGeneralAlarmStatus would confirm that the primary card failed, triggering an automatic Y-cable/redundancy switchover.
What Can Be Monitored
- redundant entity state (active/standby/failed)
- redundancy alarm status
- switchover command/history
- Y-cable selection status
