Category: Network Management

Description: Provides extended interface configuration objects for link activation, speed selection, and admin policies on Paradyne platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-IF-EXT-CONFIG-MIB?

PDN-IF-EXT-CONFIG-MIB is a Paradyne Networks vendor extension MIB that provides additional interface configuration objects for link activation, speed selection, and administrative policy beyond what standard interface MIBs cover. Its exposed data centers on extended link configuration - a link config table controlling role/mode settings for interfaces - alongside conformance groups for related multiprotocol encapsulation and extended interface configuration features. This module is oriented toward configuration/software status rather than physical hardware telemetry: it lets an administrator confirm an interface's negotiated role and administrative policy are correctly applied, which underlies correct link-up behavior. It explicitly extends the standard IF-MIB (ifTable/ifXTable) framework, adding Paradyne-specific configuration knobs layered on the standard interface index. It's deployed on Paradyne access/DSL platforms where interfaces need vendor-specific link-role or encapsulation configuration beyond the IETF interface MIB baseline, and the PDN-IF-EXT-CONFIG-MIB MIB remains the reference administrators load when managing these legacy Paradyne interfaces.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-IF-EXT-CONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne Networks access/DSL platform

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would look up pdnIfXLinkConfigTable/pdnIfXLinkConfigEntry to check pdnIfXLinkConfigRole for a given interface, confirming whether it's configured as, for example, a master or slave link role - a mismatch between two ends of a link would explain a failure to establish connectivity. The pdnIfMultiprotocolEncapMIBGroups and pdnIfXConfigMIBGroups indicate this module also defines compliance/conformance statements for multiprotocol encapsulation configuration, though these are conformance objects rather than runtime data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • interface link configuration role
  • extended interface administrative policy
