Category: Network Management

Description: Manages device configuration persistence, version tracking, and configuration download/upload operations on Paradyne xDSL equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-CONFIG-MIB?

PDN-CONFIG-MIB is a Paradyne enterprise MIB for general device configuration management on Paradyne xDSL/access equipment, covering configuration-area copy operations, self-test timing, network clock-source selection, trap enabling, and alarm-relay behavior. It exposes objects to trigger and time device self-tests, configure which network timing reference the device derives its clock from (with per-entry source, interface, and rate), copy configuration between storage areas, and control whether SNMP traps and an alarm relay are enabled. This is squarely a device configuration and self-test/status MIB -- used to confirm the device is deriving timing from the correct clock source, that scheduled self-tests complete within expected durations, and that trap/alarm notification paths are enabled so hardware faults will actually be reported. No explicit dependency on standard IETF MIBs is stated, though its trap-enable and alarm-relay objects imply it works alongside a health/status MIB like PDN-HEALTHANDSTATUS-MIB. It is deployed on Paradyne xDSL access devices where administrators need to manage clocking, self-test scheduling, config backup, and alarm notification behavior via SNMP. Engineers can download the PDN-CONFIG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-CONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne xDSL access equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator reads devConfigClockSrcTable/Entry to confirm devCfgClkSource and devCfgClkIfIndex point at the intended timing reference and devCfgClkRate matches the expected clock rate, since an incorrect clock source causes timing slips on TDM circuits. Checking devConfigTestTimer/Duration against devConfigTestTimeout after triggering a self-test confirms whether the device completed diagnostics within the allowed window or timed out. devConfigTrapEnable and devConfigAlarmRelayCutoff are checked to make sure fault notifications and the physical alarm relay are actually armed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • network clock source and rate
  • self-test duration/timeout status
  • configuration area copy status
  • trap enable state
  • alarm relay cutoff setting
