Category: Network Management

Description: Monitors MediaHawk media surveillance and recording system status and events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MEDIAHAWK-MIB?

MEDIAHAWK-MIB is an enterprise MIB from Concurrent Computer Corporation for the MediaHawk video server, a media recording and surveillance/broadcast storage system. It exposes data about individual recorded video assets, including file size, number of copies, number of open handles, content storage space, and index space consumption. It is used to monitor the software and storage health of the video server: a video status showing an error, an index or content space nearing capacity, or an unexpectedly high open-file count are direct indicators of a recording or storage problem needing attention. It is a standalone enterprise MIB registered under Concurrent Computer Corporation's OID branch with no evident dependency on other vendor or standards MIBs. It is deployed on broadcast, surveillance, or video-on-demand server appliances that continuously record and archive live video streams. Engineers can download the MEDIAHAWK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MEDIAHAWK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MediaHawk video server appliance

Monitoring Examples

Walking mhvsVPVideoTable indexed by mhvsVPVideoIndex reads mhvsVPVideoName, mhvsVPVideoStatus, and mhvsVPVideoSize together with mhvsVPVideoContentSpace and mhvsVPVideoIndexSpace. A video entry stuck in an error status, or index space approaching capacity, signals a recording or storage problem. mhvsVPVideoNumOpen and mhvsVPVideoNumCopies show how many processes currently reference that video asset.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-video recording status
  • video file size
  • content storage space used
  • index space used
  • number of open video handles
  • number of video copies
