What Is PANDATEL-ETC-MODEM-MIB?

PANDATEL-ETC-MODEM-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for Pandatel's ETC series line modems, rack-mounted physical-layer equipment used to extend telecom circuits over copper pairs. It exposes rack/slot inventory and identification, along with data equipment emulation mode, alarm status, remote access mode, forced remote access, and operation mode for each modem unit. Its monitoring emphasis is on hardware status - mdmAlarm directly surfaces hardware fault/alarm conditions on a given modem, while mdmRemoteAccessMode and mdmOperationMode indicate whether the unit is reachable and in which mode it's running, both important for confirming a line card is healthy and correctly provisioned. As a self-contained vendor line-modem MIB it has no evident dependency on IETF standard MIBs beyond the base SNMP framework. It's typically deployed in telecom central office or premises racks housing multiple ETC modem cards, managed centrally via an element management system. Engineers can download the PANDATEL-ETC-MODEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PANDATEL-ETC-MODEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Pandatel ETC series line modem

Monitoring Examples

An operator would enumerate etcModemTable/etcTableEntry rows by mdmRack, mdmModem, and mdmPosition to inventory installed cards, then poll mdmAlarm to spot a card reporting a hardware fault. mdmRemoteAccessMode and mdmForcedRemoteAccess would be checked when a technician needs to confirm whether remote diagnostic access to a distant modem is currently permitted or has been forced on, and mdmDataEquipmentEmulation/mdmOperationMode would be reviewed to verify the unit is emulating the correct mode for its attached equipment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • modem rack/slot position
  • alarm/fault status
  • remote access mode
  • operation mode
  • data equipment emulation mode
