Category: Modems

Description: Handles configuration, line status, and performance statistics for the Pandatel BMZ series modem.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PANDATEL-BMZ-MODEM-MIB?

PANDATEL-BMZ-MODEM-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for Pandatel's BMZ series HDSL/leased-line modems, rack-mounted physical-layer equipment used to extend telecom circuits over copper. It exposes rack/shelf/slot inventory (rack, modem, position), modem identification and properties, interface emulation mode, HDSL unit configuration, and clock system/source and data rate settings for each modem. It is focused on monitoring hardware status - confirming each modem's position and identity in the rack, its configured data rate and clock source/synchronization state, and its interface emulation mode as indicators of whether the line unit is provisioned and operating correctly. As a self-contained vendor MIB for line-modem hardware it has no evident dependency on broader IETF standard MIBs beyond the base SNMP SMI. It's typically deployed in telecom central office or customer-premises racks housing multiple HDSL modem cards, managed via an element management system that polls the PANDATEL-BMZ-MODEM-MIB MIB for status.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PANDATEL-BMZ-MODEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Pandatel BMZ series HDSL modem

Monitoring Examples

An operator would enumerate bmzModemTable/bmzTableEntry rows keyed by mdmRack, mdmModem, and mdmPosition to inventory every modem card in a chassis, then check mdmClockSource and mdmClockSystem to confirm a given HDSL unit is synchronized to the network clock rather than free-running. mdmDataRate would be polled to verify the provisioned line rate matches the service contract, and mdmModemProperty/mdmInterfaceEmulationMode would flag a card configured with the wrong interface emulation for its circuit.

What Can Be Monitored

  • modem rack/slot position
  • clock source/synchronization status
  • data rate configuration
  • interface emulation mode
  • modem identity/properties
