What Is PANDATEL-FOBUS-MODEM-MIB?
PANDATEL-FOBUS-MODEM-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for Pandatel FOBUS-series fiber optic bus modems, devices used to extend serial or bus signals over fiber links in industrial or telecom environments. It exposes a modem table identifying each modem by rack and position, along with its name, backup status, active link selection, and operation mode, plus per-port alarm condition objects. Its monitoring emphasis is on hardware/link status — mdmBackupStatus and mdmActiveLink reveal whether a modem has failed over to a backup path, and the mdmAlarmConditionPort objects report per-port fault conditions, both critical for detecting fiber link degradation or modem hardware faults. As a compact vendor-specific module it shows no strong dependency on external standard MIBs beyond basic SNMPv2-SMI conventions. It is deployed in industrial or utility environments where Pandatel FOBUS modems provide redundant fiber-optic bus connectivity that must be monitored for automatic failover events. Engineers can download the PANDATEL-FOBUS-MODEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PANDATEL-FOBUS-MODEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Pandatel FOBUS fiber optic bus modem
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls fobusModemTable/fobusTableEntry, identified by mdmRack, mdmModem, and mdmPosition, to check mdmActiveLink and mdmBackupStatus for a given modem. A modem reporting mdmBackupStatus as active indicates the primary fiber path has failed over to backup, warranting field investigation of the primary link. Simultaneously checking mdmAlarmConditionPort1 through mdmAlarmConditionPort3 identifies which specific port raised the fault that triggered the failover.
What Can Be Monitored
- active link/backup status
- operation mode
- per-port alarm conditions
- modem rack/position identity
