What Is PANDATEL-MODEM-MIB?
This is the base Pandatel AG vendor MIB providing foundational SNMP management objects for their modem product line, covering rack-level inventory and basic device status. It exposes data such as the number of installed racks and modems, current device date/time, and a rack table describing each rack's type, description, and modem slot capacity/occupancy. It is used to monitor hardware status at the rack/chassis level, confirming how many modem slots are populated versus available, verifying device clock/date synchronization, and detecting configuration issues via loop-mode trap notifications. PANDATEL-MODEM-MIB SNMP monitoring gives operators a quick chassis-wide view of rack and modem health before they need to drill into type-specific modem MIBs for per-modem detail. As the base MIB in the Pandatel modem family, it is depended upon by more specific modules like PANDATEL-GMDF-MODEM-MIB, which extend it with per-modem-type detail. It is typically deployed by telecom access providers managing racks of Pandatel modems for leased-line or DSL access services.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PANDATEL-MODEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- installed rack/modem counts
- rack type and modem slot occupancy
- device current date/time
- loop-mode trap events
Supported Devices
- Pandatel AG modem chassis/rack
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll mdmInstalledRacks and mdmInstalledModems to get a quick inventory summary, then check rackEntry fields such as rackModemSlots versus rackModems to see whether a rack has unused capacity or is fully populated. Comparing mdmCurrentDate/mdmCurrentTime against the expected NTP-synced time would reveal a device with a drifting internal clock. An mdmLoopModeTraps notification firing would alert the operator that a modem entered loopback test mode, which needs to be cleared to restore normal traffic, providing a chassis-level view before drilling into type-specific modem MIBs.

| INT mdmIfType | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.1 | INTEGER | read-only | This variable shows the agent's interface type. |

| INT mdmIfDataRate | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.3 | INTEGER | read-only | This variable shows the agent's data rate in bps. |
| INT mdmIfDialEnable | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.4 | INTEGER | read-write | This variable enables the initialization of a dial modem in case of alarm. The following variables (5 to 10) are active only if this variable is enabled. |
| STR mdmIfInitString | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.5 | DisplayString | read-write | This variable defines an init string which is generated in case of alarm to configure an external Hayes compatible modem. |
| STR mdmIfDialString | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.6 | DisplayString | read-write | This variable defines a modem command which is generated in case of alarm to dial-up a remote NMS station. If the dial string is not defined neither the init string nor the dial string is generated. |
| INT mdmIfSendTTL | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.7 | INTEGER | read-write | This variable defines the TTL (time to live) in seconds. After that time the generated traps will be deleted from the buffer. If the value is '0' the traps will remain in the buffer. |
| INT mdmIfDialTimeout | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.8 | INTEGER | read-write | This variable defines a dial timeout for the modem in seconds. |
| INT mdmIfRedialPause | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.9 | INTEGER | read-write | This variable defines the duration of a redial pause in seconds. |
| INT mdmIfIdlePeriodBeforeDisconnect | 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.20.10 | INTEGER | read-write | This variable defines the period of time before disconnecting in seconds. If the value is '0' the modem will remain connected. |
