Category: Cable/DOCSIS

Description: Manages the Cisco/Scientific-Atlanta GX2 LM1000S 1000 MHz laser module in HFC optical node deployments.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OMNI-gx2Lm1000s-MIB?

OMNI-gx2Lm1000s-MIB is a Blonder Tongue (BBN/GX2 HFC headend heritage) proprietary MIB reporting gx2Lm1000s (a 1000-series laser-transmitter module) analog telemetry against nominal ranges. Its analog table, keyed by index, records per-parameter (offset-from-nominal monitor, laser power, and others) label, unit of measure, major/minor high/low threshold, current value, state flag, min/max recorded value, and alarm state, while companion digital/status/factory tables cover discrete status and factory-set data. As a hardware-performance MIB it lets an administrator watch a gx2Lm1000s laser transmitter's power output against alarm thresholds in an HFC headend. It is deployed on Blonder Tongue (GX2) HFC headend equipment. Engineers can download the OMNI-gx2Lm1000s-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OMNI-gx2Lm1000s-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • General Instrument OmniStar GX2 HFC headend/optical node (gx2Lm1000s 1000-series laser transmitter module)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator monitors lm1000scurrentValueOffsetNomMonitor against lm1000smajorHighOffsetNomMonitor to catch a laser transmitter drifting out of tolerance in an HFC headend.

What Can Be Monitored

  • gx2Lm1000s laser transmitter telemetry vs. alarm thresholds
