Description: Provides SNMP management objects for the switching fabric status and configuration on Nortel MsCarrier MscPassport switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FabricMIB?

Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FabricMIB is a Nortel Networks (MSC Passport carrier-class WAN switch) proprietary MIB managing shelf-card fabric-port state. Its row-status table controls fabric-port component creation/deletion, a state table records admin/operational/usage state, availability/procedural/control/alarm/standby/unknown status, and an operational table records failures/dependencies in effect and cards-available/cards-transmitting-to counts. As a hardware/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a switch fabric port's operational state and identify active failures affecting fabric connectivity between shelf cards. It is deployed on Nortel MSC Passport carrier-class WAN switches. Engineers can download the Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FabricMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FabricMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel MSC Passport carrier-class WAN switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks mscShelfCardFabricPortOperationalState and ...FailuresInEffect to diagnose a shelf card losing fabric connectivity on a Nortel MSC Passport switch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • switch fabric port operational state and failures
