Category: Nortel Magellan Passport, QoS / Traffic Management
Description: Defines SNMP objects for DPRS (Data Packet Relay Service) quality-of-service parameters on Nortel Magellan Passport modules.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-ModDprsQosMIB?
Nortel-Magellan-Passport-ModDprsQosMIB defines SNMP objects for quality-of-service management of Frame Relay traffic carried over the Data Packet Relay Service (DPRS) network layer on Nortel Magellan Passport module ports. It provides row status and provisioning tables both for the top-level Frame-Relay-over-DPRS network component and for a nested traffic policing/management (Tpm) sub-component associated with each network instance. This gives an operator visibility into whether the DPRS QoS network object and its associated policing sub-component are provisioned and operating correctly, functioning as a status check on the QoS enforcement logic running on the switch module. As with other Passport component MIBs it depends on the shared RowStatus/StorageType textual conventions and component-indexing hierarchy used throughout the Passport MIB set. It is deployed on Nortel Magellan Passport multiservice switch modules that carry Frame Relay traffic over a DPRS backbone. Engineers can download the Nortel-Magellan-Passport-ModDprsQosMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-Magellan-Passport-ModDprsQosMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nortel Magellan Passport WAN switch module
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls modFrsDprsNetRowStatusTable to verify a Frame-Relay-over-DPRS network component (indexed by modFrsDprsNetIndex) is active, then drills into the nested modFrsDprsNetTpmRowStatusTable to check whether its traffic-policing sub-component is likewise up and correctly provisioned. A row stuck in a non-active status on either table would indicate a misconfigured or failed QoS policing path for that network segment. modFrsDprsNetComponentName and modFrsDprsNetStorageType identify the component and its configuration persistence.
What Can Be Monitored
- DPRS network component row status
- Tpm (traffic policing) sub-component status
- component storage type
- QoS provisioning state
