Category: Frame Relay

Description: Manages Nortel Magellan Passport Frame Relay UNI interface DLCI configuration and LMI signaling.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-FrameRelayUniMIB?

This module is part of Nortel's Magellan Passport MIB family and manages Frame Relay UNI (User-Network Interface) configuration on the Passport packet-switching platform, including DLCI provisioning and LMI (Local Management Interface) signaling parameters. It exposes row-status and provisioning tables for UNI components, customer-identifier data, and interface state tracking used to confirm the operational status of each Frame Relay UNI. As a monitoring tool it supports configuration-state and interface-state checks, letting an operator confirm a Frame Relay UNI component is active/provisioned and review its current signaling state, which is useful for diagnosing LMI or DLCI-level connectivity problems between the carrier switch and customer equipment. It follows the same Passport/Magellan component-object conventions shared with sibling trunk MIBs (e.g., DPN and PORS trunk MIBs), reflecting a common underlying object model. It is deployed on legacy Nortel Magellan Passport packet switches used by carriers to provide Frame Relay UNI access circuits to customers. Engineers can download the Nortel-Magellan-Passport-FrameRelayUniMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-Magellan-Passport-FrameRelayUniMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel Magellan Passport packet switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls frUniRowStatusTable/frUniRowStatusEntry to confirm frUniRowStatus is active for a given frUniComponentName and frUniIndex, then reviews frUniStateTable/frUniStateEntry to check the current interface/LMI state. The frUniCidDataTable's frUniCustomerIdentifier lets the operator confirm which customer circuit is associated with a given UNI component when investigating a reported Frame Relay access problem.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Frame Relay UNI component row status
  • UNI interface/LMI state
  • customer identifier association
  • component storage/provisioning status
