What Is CISCO-WAN-FR-SIGNALING-MIB?

CISCO-WAN-FR-SIGNALING-MIB manages LMI (Local Management Interface) and CLLM (Consolidated Link Layer Management) signaling configuration and statistics for Frame Relay logical ports on Cisco WAN switching platforms. LMI is the signaling protocol that communicates PVC status between a Frame Relay switch and attached devices, using periodic polling timers and error thresholds to detect link problems. The MIB exposes timer/counter configuration such as t391LinkIntegrityTimer, t392PollingVerificationTimer, n391FullStatusPollingCounter, and n392ErrorThreshold, plus per-port status, making it a software/protocol-signaling health monitor: rising signaling errors against n392ErrorThreshold or missed polls indicate a Frame Relay PVC link is degrading or a peer device is not responding correctly to LMI keepalives. It implements the Frame Relay Forum FRF.1.2 LMI extensions (portFRF1Dot2Support) alongside Cisco-proprietary CLLM signaling, tying it to Frame Relay Forum standards. It is deployed in legacy Cisco WAN switch (MGX/BPX) Frame Relay networks for PVC signaling and status monitoring. How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using rcvStatusInquiry OID:

Select a Cisco MGX/BPX Frame Relay switch as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type rcvStatusInquiry into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The number of Status Inquiry messages received. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
