Description: Monitors system-level status, alarms, and inventory for Zhone Technologies DSL CPE equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NPSYSTEM?
NPSYSTEM is a private enterprise MIB from Zhone Technologies defining system-module status, alarms, and inventory extensions for Zhone DSL CPE (customer premises equipment) devices. It is explicitly scoped to configuration and status of the system module, meaning it covers device-level identity/inventory along with alarm/fault indications. Its monitoring purpose is tracking overall device health at the system level -- active alarms and system status flags that would indicate a hardware fault, misconfiguration, or degraded operating condition on the CPE. As a private enterprise extension it depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise-number framework and likely coordinates with other Zhone product-line MIBs for detailed per-module data. It is deployed on Zhone Technologies DSL customer-premises equipment used by broadband service providers for residential/small-business DSL service. Engineers can download the NPSYSTEM file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NPSYSTEM. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Zhone Technologies DSL CPE
Monitoring Examples
No sample object names were provided for this module, so a specific table/object walk cannot be described without inventing OIDs; based on its stated scope, an operator would typically poll a system-level alarm/status object and inventory identifiers to confirm the DSL CPE is operating normally and to detect any active fault condition remotely.
What Can Be Monitored
- system alarm status
- device inventory/identity
