Description: Trap MIB covering NMS EPON ONU registration, optical module status, PON protection switching, and remote failure indication notifications

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NMS-EPON-ONU-TRAP?

NMS-EPON-ONU-TRAP is a proprietary MIB (built on NMS-EPON-LLID/NMS-EPON-OLT-PSG/NMS-EPON-ONU) defining ONU (Optical Network Unit) failure and status notifications for an EPON access network. Its objects cover remote-failure-indication, version/EPROM-version-update-status, ONU notification, backup-PON notification, peer/current OLT PON interface description and DIID, a 2-PON-2-MAC notification, peer PON-port status, PON SFP status, and an SFP-parameter notification. As a notification MIB it lets an administrator get alerted when an ONU reports a remote failure or SFP parameter anomaly on an EPON access network. It is deployed on EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) access equipment (ONU trap notifications). Engineers can download the NMS-EPON-ONU-TRAP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NMS-EPON-ONU-TRAP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) access equipment (ONU trap notifications)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator receives onuRemoteFailureIndication to detect a failing ONU on an EPON access network.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ONU remote-failure and SFP-parameter notifications
