What Is NMS-EPON-LLID?

NMS-EPON-LLID is an NMS Communications MIB for managing Ethernet PON (EPON) Logical Link Identifier (LLID) assignment and registration on PON access links. Its category is configuration/registration data mapping optical network units (ONUs) to their LLID values within an EPON optical line terminal (OLT). NMS-EPON-LLID SNMP monitoring is primarily focused on software/link-layer status — confirming which ONUs are registered under which LLIDs and whether a link's LLID assignment is active — which is foundational to diagnosing ONU registration or authentication problems on a PON, rather than hardware sensor data. It works alongside base IEEE 802.3ah EPON/PON MIBs that model physical PON topology and ONU discovery. It is deployed on NMS Communications-based EPON OLT/access equipment in FTTH/FTTB broadband access networks.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NMS-EPON-LLID. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • NMS Communications EPON OLT (optical line terminal)
  • PON access network equipment

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were available for this module, so exact table/column names can't be cited, but a MIB of this kind would typically expose an LLID assignment table that an operator polls to see which ONU is bound to which logical link ID on a given PON port, flagging an anomaly if an ONU fails to register or its LLID assignment is missing or duplicated.
