Description: TIMETRA-SAS-VRTR-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TIMETRA-SAS-VRTR-MIB?
TIMETRA-SAS-VRTR-MIB is a Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent proprietary SNMP module for the Alcatel 7x50 platform that manages and monitors transport/virtual-router interfaces and their associated statistics-collection configuration. It exposes interface extension objects (accounting policy binding, statistics-collection enable/disable) alongside detailed ingress traffic counters split by meter/profile, including in-profile and out-of-profile packet and octet counts. Its monitoring value is chiefly interface-level performance/traffic monitoring: an operator can track how much ingress traffic on a given interface conforms to (in-profile) versus exceeds (out-of-profile) its configured metering, a direct indicator of congestion or QoS policy violations. It extends the base TIMETRA virtual-router/interface MIBs and works alongside standard IF-MIB counters. It is deployed on Nokia/Alcatel 7x50 routers providing virtual-router-based Layer 3 services in service-provider networks. Engineers can download the TIMETRA-SAS-VRTR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-SAS-VRTR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7x50 SAS series routers
- virtual-router-based Layer 3 service edge devices
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls vRtrNetIfIngressStatsTable/vRtrNetIfIngressStatsEntry to compare vRtrNetIfIngressFwdInProfPkts against vRtrNetIfIngressFwdOutProfPkts for a given meter (vRtrNetIfIngressMeterIndex), where a rising out-of-profile count indicates the interface is exceeding its configured ingress rate. The vRtrIfExtnTable/vRtrIfExtnEntry rows are checked to confirm vRtrIfCollectStats is enabled and vRtrIfAcctPolicyId points to the correct accounting policy before relying on the counters. Octet-level counters (vRtrNetIfIngressFwdInProfOcts/OutProfOcts) provide a finer-grained view of throughput when packet counts alone don't explain a bandwidth alarm.
What Can Be Monitored
- ingress in-profile/out-of-profile packet counts
- ingress in-profile/out-of-profile octet counts
- per-interface statistics collection and accounting policy binding
