Description: Manages wireless packet capture settings on Meru Networks WLAN controllers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MERU-CONFIG-PACKETCAPTURE-MIB?
This is a Meru Networks private MIB for configuring packet capture on Meru WLAN controllers, part of the Meru wireless infrastructure management suite. Although no specific object names were captured for this module, MIBs of this class typically expose parameters for capture filters, target interfaces/radios, capture duration, and buffer/storage status. Its monitoring/configuration value lies in managing an active diagnostic tool on wireless infrastructure: confirming a capture session is running, on which radio/SSID, and whether the capture buffer is filling or has completed, which is important for troubleshooting difficult wireless connectivity or interference issues. It is a Meru-specific configuration MIB, generally used alongside other Meru WLAN controller MIBs (radio, AP, and client MIBs) rather than any IETF standard. It is deployed on Meru wireless LAN controllers in enterprise Wi-Fi networks where network engineers need to remotely initiate and manage packet captures for RF or client troubleshooting. Engineers can download the MERU-CONFIG-PACKETCAPTURE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MERU-CONFIG-PACKETCAPTURE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Meru Networks WLAN controller
- Meru wireless access point
Monitoring Examples
A wireless engineer investigating a client association failure would configure a packet capture targeting a specific radio/interface via this MIB and then poll capture-status objects to confirm the capture started and is accumulating frames. Capture duration and buffer-fill objects would be checked to know when the capture is complete and ready for retrieval. This MIB would typically be used interactively during an active troubleshooting session rather than for continuous background polling.
What Can Be Monitored
- packet capture session status
- capture target radio/interface
- capture duration/buffer state
