What Is PEPWAVE-MAX-MIB?
PEPWAVE-MAX-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for Peplink's Pepwave MAX line of mobile LTE/cellular routers, used in vehicle, IoT, and branch connectivity deployments. It exposes objects covering device identity (firmware, serial number, system time), LAN interface configuration, and a per-link table describing cellular/WAN connections and their status. The MIB directly supports monitoring device software and operational status through objects like maxFirmware (software version), maxUpTime (device uptime), and per-link connection counts that reveal WAN failover and cellular link health. It appears to be a self-contained vendor MIB without heavy reliance on other standard MIBs, focused on Pepwave's own management model. It is typically deployed by mobile network operators or fleet/IoT administrators monitoring multi-WAN cellular router uptime and connectivity redundancy in the field. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PEPWAVE-MAX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PEPWAVE-MAX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Pepwave MAX cellular/LTE router
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll maxUpTime and maxFirmware to confirm the router has not unexpectedly rebooted and is running the expected firmware version, and check maxLanStatus/maxLanIp to verify LAN connectivity is up. Walking linkTable/linkEntry with linkConnNum and linkName reveals which cellular or WAN links are currently active and how many connections each is carrying, which would expose a failover event if the primary WAN link count drops to zero. A sudden drop in maxLinkNumber would indicate loss of one or more WAN paths, a key signal for SD-WAN style failover monitoring.
What Can Be Monitored
- device uptime
- firmware version
- serial number
- LAN IP/subnet status
- WAN link count and connection status
- system time
