Category: Hardware Inventory
Description: Provides system information such as software version and uptime for Infinera nodes.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is LUM-SYSINFO-MIB?
LUM-SYSINFO-MIB is an Infinera/Lum-family proprietary MIB that provides system-level software and runtime status information for the control boards in an optical transport network element, complementing the hardware inventory exposed by LUM-EQUIPMENT-MIB. It exposes per-board startup/uptime and reboot-reason data along with CPU load information, giving visibility into the software health of each control processor in the chassis. It is explicitly used for monitoring software/system status: board uptime since last restart, the reason for the last reboot (useful for diagnosing crashes vs. planned resets), and short-term CPU load averages that indicate processing overload on a control card. It is closely related to and typically deployed alongside LUM-EQUIPMENT-MIB, since board identity and slot context from the equipment MIB give meaning to the per-board entries here. It is used in carrier-grade optical transport/DWDM network elements where NMS platforms track control-plane software stability and processor load across the network, and a LUM-SYSINFO-MIB download is the usual way to wire up that per-board uptime and CPU-load visibility.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LUM-SYSINFO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Infinera optical transport network element / control board
Monitoring Examples
Polling sysinfoBoardStartupTable by sysinfoBoardStartupIndex returns sysinfoBoardStartupUptimeSeconds and sysinfoBoardStartupRebootReason per board, letting an operator spot a control card that rebooted unexpectedly (e.g., reason "watchdog" rather than "manual") and correlate it with a service-affecting event. sysinfoBoardLoadTable's sysinfoBoardLoadLoad1Min per sysinfoBoardLoadIndex/sysinfoBoardLoadName exposes the 1-minute CPU load average per board, flagging a control processor that is chronically overloaded and at risk of delayed protocol convergence.
What Can Be Monitored
- board uptime
- last reboot reason
- 1-minute CPU load average per board
- board startup/identity
