Description: Manages the S64 switch module configuration and cross-connect state in Cyan optical systems.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CYAN-S64-MIB?

The CYAN-S64-MIB is a proprietary MIB from Cyan Inc. (an optical transport/packet-optical networking vendor, later part of Ciena) that manages the S64 switch module, representing an STS-192c/VC-4-64c high-order path layer facility within a Cyan optical transport shelf. It exposes configuration and cross-connect state for S64 path entities, indexed by shelf, module, and S64 identifiers, including administrative state, expected/inserted/accepted equipment identity, and description fields. Monitoring this MIB is central to tracking the hardware presence and administrative/operational status of high-capacity optical path modules, essentially a card/module inventory and state check rather than classic CPU/memory metrics. It operates within Cyan's broader optical transport MIB hierarchy (cyanS64MibObjects) alongside related shelf/module MIBs, so it depends on consistent shelf/module indexing conventions shared across the platform. It is typically deployed in carrier and metro optical transport networks running Cyan/Ciena packet-optical platforms. Engineers can download the CYAN-S64-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CYAN-S64-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cyan (Ciena) packet-optical transport shelf/module

Monitoring Examples

Polling cyanS64Table / cyanS64Entry keyed by cyanS64ShelfId, cyanS64ModuleId, and cyanS64S64Id lets an operator confirm whether a given S64 path module is cyanS64Accepted and what cyanS64AdminState it is in, revealing whether an installed card has been provisioned into service. Comparing cyanS64Expected against cyanS64Inserted flags a mismatch, such as an operator expecting one module type but a different one physically present, and cyanS64AutoinserviceSoakTimeSec shows how long a newly inserted module is being soaked before automatic activation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • S64 module administrative state
  • expected vs. inserted module identity
  • module acceptance status
  • auto-inservice soak time
  • module description
