Category: Hardware Inventory

Description: Manages system-level configuration and control on Infinera optical transport nodes.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LUM-SYSTEM-MIB?

This is an Infinera (LUM/Coriant lineage) private MIB managing system-level configuration on optical transport network elements, covering general node parameters, date/time, licensing, and authentication configuration. It exposes data on node identity (name, contact, location), configuration change tracking, login/session records, and RADIUS/TACACS+ authentication settings. While primarily a configuration and administrative MIB, it supports hardware/software status monitoring through objects like sysGeneralLastChangeTime and sysGeneralConfigLastChangeTime, which reveal when the node's software configuration was last modified, and sysGeneralLoginRecords/sysGeneralUserTableSize, which track operator access to the node. Because it governs authentication and licensing on a transport platform, it is commonly used alongside Infinera's chassis, alarm, and interface MIBs to give a complete picture of node health. It is deployed on optical transport nodes in carrier and enterprise backbone networks where operators need centralized visibility into node configuration state and access control. Engineers can download the LUM-SYSTEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LUM-SYSTEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Infinera optical transport network node

Monitoring Examples

An operator could poll sysGeneralConfigLastChangeTime after a maintenance window to confirm a configuration push was applied, and compare it against sysGeneralLastChangeTime to detect drift between config and general system state. sysGeneralLoginRecords lets security teams audit who accessed the node's CLI or management interface and when. sysNodeName and sysNodeLocation are typically cross-referenced in inventory systems to map SNMP alerts back to a physical site in the transport network.

What Can Be Monitored

  • node name, contact, and location
  • configuration last-change timestamp
  • login/session records
  • user table size
  • RADIUS/TACACS+ authentication configuration
  • license information
