What Is LINKSWITCH-MIB?

LINKSWITCH-MIB is a vendor-specific enterprise MIB for the LinkSwitch line of Ethernet/source-routing switching devices, covering switch-wide configuration and diagnostic status. It exposes categories of data including traffic filtering controls (source-route, segment, and multicast filters), address table aging, loop-detection behavior, and device self-test/status-indicator objects. It is explicitly useful for monitoring hardware and software status: lsProdVerSW and lsProdVerHW report the running software and hardware revision, lsLEDstate reflects the switch's front-panel status indicator, and lsTestResult exposes the outcome of the device's self-test diagnostics. It is a standalone enterprise MIB with no evident dependency on another vendor's MIB beyond standard SNMPv2/Ethernet conventions. It would have been deployed in legacy enterprise LAN environments using LinkSwitch bridging/switching hardware for segment interconnection, and administrators researching this legacy platform today can still download the LINKSWITCH-MIB file to load it into a MIB browser for reference.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LINKSWITCH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. Monitoring Examples

An admin polls lsProdVerSW and lsProdVerHW to confirm firmware/hardware revision during an inventory audit, and checks lsTestResult alongside lsLEDstate to see whether the switch passed its power-on self-test and what its status LED currently shows. lsLoopDetectAction and lsAddressAgingTimer reveal how the switch reacts to a detected network loop and how quickly it ages out stale MAC address table entries, so a stuck loop-detect action combined with an unusually low aging timer could explain intermittent connectivity flaps on the segment.
