Category: Protocol: X.25, Vendor: Intel

Description: Intel X.25 extensions MIB providing proprietary SNMP objects for extended X.25 WAN interface configuration and diagnostics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is INTEL-X25EXT-MIB?

This is Intel's proprietary extension to the standard X.25 MIB, adding vendor-specific objects for X.25 WAN interface circuits on Intel-based equipment. It exposes circuit-level configuration (packet size, window size, timeout) and traffic/fault counters (resets) for each virtual circuit. It is used to monitor the software/protocol status of X.25 links—rising reset and flow-control-stuck-reset counts reveal link-layer instability or negotiation failures on the WAN hardware. As an explicit "extension," it depends on and complements the standard X.25 MIB (RFC 1382) rather than replacing it. It is typically deployed on Intel-based X.25 WAN routers/gateways in legacy packet-switched network environments. Engineers can download the INTEL-X25EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-X25EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Intel X.25 WAN interface cards/routers

Monitoring Examples

x25extCircuitTable/x25extCircuitEntry, indexed by x25extCircuitIndex and x25extCircuitChannel, exposes x25extCircuitPacketSize and x25extCircuitWindowSize for each logical channel. An admin polling x25extCircuitOutResets and x25extCircuitOutFlowStuckResets can detect a circuit repeatedly resetting due to flow-control lockups, indicating a WAN link or peer-negotiation problem, while x25extCircuitTimeout helps confirm circuit timeout tuning.

What Can Be Monitored

  • X.25 circuit packet size
  • circuit window size
  • circuit timeout
  • circuit reset counts
  • flow-control stuck reset counts
