Description: Intel LAPB (Link Access Procedure Balanced) MIB providing SNMP objects for X.25 LAPB interface configuration and statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is INTEL-LAPB-MIB?
INTEL-LAPB-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for X.25 LAPB (Link Access Procedure Balanced) link-layer interfaces on Intel WAN equipment. It exposes a per-frame-type table of transmit and receive counters covering Information, Receiver-Ready, Receiver-Not-Ready, Reject, and Frame-Reject frames. Its monitoring value is link-layer protocol health: rising RNR (flow-control) or REJ/FRMR (error) counts are software/protocol-level fault indicators that reveal congestion or framing problems on the underlying WAN link rather than physical sensor readings. It depends on IF-MIB-style interface indexing to tie LAPB frame counters to the correct WAN interface. It is deployed on legacy Intel X.25/LAPB WAN routers still used in networks running X.25 packet switching. Engineers can download the INTEL-LAPB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-LAPB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Intel X.25/LAPB WAN router or access device
Monitoring Examples
lapbFrameTypeTable/lapbFrameTypeEntry keyed by lapbFrameTypeIndex exposes lapbFrameTypeRxInfo/lapbFrameTypeTxInfo counts alongside lapbFrameTypeRxRNR/lapbFrameTypeTxRNR and lapbFrameTypeRxREJ/lapbFrameTypeTxREJ. A rising lapbFrameTypeRxFRMR (frame reject) count would indicate protocol errors or a misbehaving X.25 peer that needs investigation.
What Can Be Monitored
- LAPB information frame counts
- receiver-not-ready (RNR) frame counts
- reject (REJ) frame counts
- frame reject (FRMR) counts
- per-interface LAPB frame type index
