Description: Intel Layer 3 textual conventions MIB defining data types used across Intel Layer 3 switching and routing MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is INTEL-L3TC-MIB?
INTEL-L3TC-MIB is Intel's private MIB providing shared textual conventions and supporting objects used across Intel's Layer 3 switching/routing MIB family, including front-panel port configuration and a server-load-balancing "servers" table used for health-checking backend application servers. It exposes front-port count and mode configuration, plus a servers table listing configured server IP addresses, port numbers, names, and heartbeat URLs used to verify server reachability, with an entry-delete control object. As a monitoring MIB it is used to check the software/service health of load-balanced backend servers, since polling whether a server's heartbeat URL check is succeeding is central to detecting an application server that has gone down or is failing health checks behind an Intel Layer 3 switch's load balancer. There is no explicit dependency on other standard MIBs; it acts as a shared conventions module for other Intel Layer 3 MIBs. It is typically deployed on Intel Layer 3 switches performing server load balancing (SLB) in front of application server farms, making the INTEL-L3TC-MIB reference essential for tracking backend server health checks.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-L3TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Intel Layer 3 switches (server load balancing)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polling l3tcServersTable/l3tcServersEntry by l3tcServersIndex can check l3tcServersIpAddress, l3tcServersPortNumber, and l3tcServersHeartBeatUrl to confirm a backend server is configured for health checking and identify which server (l3tcServersName) has failed if the switch stops sending it traffic. l3tcFrontPortsTable/l3tcFrontPortsEntry exposes l3tcFrontPortsNumber and l3tcFrontPortsMode, letting an admin verify the front-panel port count and operating mode configured on the switch.
What Can Be Monitored
- backend server IP/port/heartbeat URL health check configuration
- server name identity
- front-panel port count and mode
