Description: Huawei RBRP (Resilient Bridge Ring Protocol) MIB for managing ring protection on Ethernet aggregation networks.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-RBRP-MIB?
HUAWEI-RBRP-MIB manages the Resilient Bridge Ring Protocol (RBRP), also called RPR Bridge Redundancy Protocol, which detects and initializes intersection-ring configurations and protects data transfer between two Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) rings via intersection stations. It exposes intersection-ring topology configuration, the role and status of intersection bridge stations, and protection-switch state/notifications. Its monitoring value is fault/software-driven resiliency status: confirming a bridge is correctly forwarding traffic between its two connected RPR rings, and detecting when the recorded intersection or ring state changes, reveals a ring break or a failed intersection station that has already triggered protection switching. It relates conceptually to IEEE 802.17 Resilient Packet Ring redundancy mechanisms, implemented here as a Huawei-specific private extension rather than a standards-track MIB. It is deployed on Huawei aggregation switches or nodes participating in RPR-based metro Ethernet ring networks. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-RBRP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-RBRP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei RPR-based metro/aggregation switches
Monitoring Examples
No sample object names were provided for this module. In general, an operator would poll the intersection-ring status objects to confirm a bridge station is correctly forwarding traffic between its two connected RPR rings. A change in the recorded ring or intersection-station state, or a protection-switch notification, signals a ring break or a failed intersection station, prompting the operator to check the physical ring links and confirm protection switching has correctly rerouted traffic.
What Can Be Monitored
- intersection ring status
- intersection station role
- protection switch state/events
- ring topology configuration
