Description: Huawei redundancy power MIB for monitoring dual power supply modules, failover events, and redundant power system state.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-REDUNDANCY-POWER-MIB?
HUAWEI-REDUNDANCY-POWER-MIB is a Huawei MIB dedicated to monitoring redundant power and fan subsystems in Huawei network devices that support dual/multiple power supplies and cooling fans. It exposes tables enumerating each power supply module and fan module along with their current and previous operational status, plus dedicated trap groups for power and fan events. This module is squarely a hardware-health monitoring MIB: redundancyPowerTable/redundancyPowerEntry track each power supply's identity and status transitions via redundancyPowerStatus and redundancyPowerPreviousStatus so operators can detect a failed or removed PSU, while redundancyFanTable/redundancyFanEntry and redundancyFanStatus do the same for cooling fans, both essential to catching a hardware failure before it causes a thermal or power-related outage. It has no notable dependency on other MIBs/standards, standing as a self-contained Huawei hardware-monitoring module built around its own power/fan trap groups powerTraps and fanTraps. It is deployed on Huawei switches, routers, and other chassis-based network devices equipped with redundant power supplies and fans, particularly in data center and core network deployments. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HUAWEI-REDUNDANCY-POWER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-REDUNDANCY-POWER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei chassis-based switches/routers with redundant power/fans
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would walk redundancyPowerTable to check redundancyPowerStatus for each redundancyPowerID and compare it against redundancyPowerPreviousStatus to detect a power supply that just failed or was hot-swapped, and similarly poll redundancyFanTable/redundancyFanStatus to catch a failed or slowing cooling fan. Receiving a powerTraps or fanTraps notification would immediately alert the admin to act on a hardware fault before it risks a device shutdown from overheating or power loss.
What Can Be Monitored
- power supply module status
- power supply status history
- cooling fan module status
- power supply failure/removal events
- fan failure events
