Description: Huawei PoE (Power over Ethernet) MIB for managing PSE power delivery, port power budget, and PoE device detection.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-POE-MIB?

HUAWEI-POE-MIB is a Huawei MIB for managing Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities on Huawei switches, covering the Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), per-port power budget allocation, and detection of connected powered devices (PDs) such as IP phones or wireless access points. It exposes configuration for per-port power limits/priority and status data reflecting whether a port is currently supplying power, in a fault state, or has detected an incompatible/overloaded device. This is directly a hardware power-health monitoring MIB: it is used to track PSE total power budget consumption, per-port power draw, and PoE fault conditions such as overload, short circuit, or device detection failure, all core indicators of the switch's power-delivery hardware health. It broadly parallels the IETF POWER-ETHERNET-MIB (RFC 3621) model of PSE/port power management, implemented here as a Huawei-specific module. It is deployed on Huawei PoE-capable access switches in enterprise environments powering devices like VoIP phones, wireless APs, and IP cameras. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-POE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-POE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei PoE-capable switches

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided, but a realistic scenario would involve polling per-port PoE power-draw and status objects to confirm a connected IP phone or AP is receiving power, and checking the PSE's total power budget consumption against its capacity. A port reporting an overload or fault status would reveal a shorted cable or a powered device drawing more current than its negotiated class allows.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PSE power budget/consumption
  • per-port power delivery status
  • port power priority
  • PoE fault/overload conditions
