What Is HUAWEI-PORT-MIB?
HUAWEI-PORT-MIB is a Huawei proprietary MIB, registered under the hwDatacomm private enterprise branch, that manages physical and logical port attributes on Huawei switches and routers, covering port speed, duplex mode, and operational state. It provides general port-level configuration and status information as an extension to standard interface management, giving Huawei-specific detail not covered by the generic IF-MIB. Its monitoring focus is squarely on port hardware/link status: confirming a port's negotiated speed and duplex setting matches expectations, and tracking operational state to catch link-down conditions or duplex mismatches that cause performance problems. It supplements the standard IETF IF-MIB, since Huawei devices typically expose both the generic interface table and this vendor-specific port table for fuller detail. It is deployed on Huawei datacom switches and routers (the hwDatacomm product family) in enterprise and carrier network environments. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-PORT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
