Description: Huawei stack MIB for managing switch stacking topology, member roles, stack IDs, and stack port configurations.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-STACK-MIB?
HUAWEI-STACK-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary module for managing switch stacking (Cluster Switch System, CSS), where multiple physical switches operate as a single logical switch. It exposes stack topology data, member switch roles, stack IDs, and the status of the physical stack (CSS) ports that interconnect member switches. Its central monitoring purpose is hardware status: detecting whether a stack port link is up or down, which member currently holds the master role, and whether an unplanned master election or member failure has occurred, all of which directly affect the availability of the logical switch. It complements standard IF-MIB objects for the underlying physical stack ports and Huawei's ENTITY-MIB-style chassis/member identification. It is typically deployed on Huawei stackable switches used in access or aggregation layers where combining multiple physical units improves both bandwidth and hardware redundancy. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HUAWEI-STACK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-STACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei stackable switches (e.g., S-series)
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll hwCssPortInfoTable for each stack port's link status and connected peer, alongside a member-role object identifying which unit is currently master. A stack port reporting a down link indicates a physically disconnected or failed stacking cable that could split the stack if not addressed. An unexpected change in the master-role object signals a master switch failure or reboot, prompting investigation into why the original master left the stack.
What Can Be Monitored
- stack (CSS) port link status
- stack member role (master/standby/slave)
- stack topology/member table
- stack ID assignment
- master election/failover events

| hwStackUpgradeEntry | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.183.1.30.1 | not-accessible | A flash copy operation entry. Each entry consists of a command, a source, and optional parameters such as protocol to be used, a destination, a server address, etc. A management station wishing to create an entry should first generate a pseudo-random serial number to be used as the index to this sparse table. The station should then create the associated instance of the row status object. It must also, either in the same or in successive PDUs, create the associated instance of the command and parameter objects. It should also modify the default values for any of the parameter objects if the defaults are not appropriate. Once the appropriate instances of all the command objects have been created, either by an explicit SNMP set request or by default, the row status should be set to active to initiate the operation. Note that this entire procedure may be initiated via a single set request which specifies a row status of createAndGo as well as specifies valid values for the non-defaulted parameter objects. Once an operation has been activated, it cannot be stopped. Once the operation completes, the management station should retrieve the value of the status object, and delete the entry. In order to prevent old entries from clogging the table, entries will be aged out, but an entry will never be deleted within 2 hours of completing. | |

RFC description
Huawei Stack MIB providing management objects for physical entity stack configuration and status monitoring on Huawei switch systems.
Start monitoring Huawei stackable switch, e.g. S-series (Cluster Switch System stacking) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
