Description: Marvell Power over Ethernet (PoE) MIB providing port power budget, delivery status, and policy management objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MARVELL-POE-MIB?
MARVELL-POE-MIB is a Marvell Semiconductor SNMP MIB for switches built on Marvell switching silicon, providing Power over Ethernet (PoE) port budget, power-delivery status, and policy/time-range management objects. It exposes a per-port PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) table (rlPethPsePortTable) with each port's output voltage, output current, output power, configured/operational power limits, delivery status, a human-readable status description, and an associated time-range name for scheduled power policies. It is explicitly used for hardware status monitoring of powered devices: rlPethPsePortStatus and rlPethPsePortStatusDescription reveal whether a port is actively delivering power, faulted, denied, or over-current, and rlPethPsePortOutputPower versus rlPethPsePortPowerLimit/rlPethPsePortOperPowerLimit shows how close a port is to exhausting its allocated power budget, critical for diagnosing failed VoIP phones, PoE cameras, or wireless access points. As a Marvell chipset-level MIB, it typically supplements the standard IEEE 802.3af/at PoE MIB (POWER-ETHERNET-MIB, RFC 3621) with vendor-specific extensions like time-range-based power policy. It is deployed on enterprise access switches built around Marvell switching ASICs that provide PoE to endpoint devices, where MARVELL-POE-MIB SNMP monitoring gives administrators visibility into per-port power delivery.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MARVELL-POE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ethernet switch with Marvell switching silicon and PoE ports
Monitoring Examples
A network administrator would poll rlPethPsePortOutputPower and rlPethPsePortPowerLimit for each entry in rlPethPsePortTable, keyed by rlPethPsePortGroupIndex and rlPethPsePortIndex, to see which switch port is nearing its power budget and might be denying power to a newly connected device. Checking rlPethPsePortStatus and rlPethPsePortStatusDescription reveals whether a port has entered a fault or overload state, while rlPethPsePortOutputVoltage and rlPethPsePortOutputCurrent give the underlying electrical readings behind that status, and rlPethPsePortTimeRangeName shows whether a scheduled power policy is currently active on that port.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-port PoE power delivery status
- per-port output power/voltage/current
- power limit vs. configured/operational limit
- power fault/error status description
- PoE time-range/scheduling policy
