Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for specifying the source IP address used by SNMP and management protocol packets on HP ProCurve switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HP-ICF-SRCIP-MIB?

HP-ICF-SRCIP-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (under the HP-ICF-OID hpicfCommon branch) that lets an administrator control which source IP address HP ProCurve/Networking routing switches use when originating management-protocol traffic. Its single table, hpicfSrcIpAddrPolicyTable, is indexed by hpicfSrcIpAddressType and hpicfSrcIpProtocolIndex (covering tacacs, radius, syslog, telnet, tftp, sntp, sflow, and tunnelednodeserver) and exposes hpicfSrcIpAddrPolicy (outgoingInterface, configuredIpAddr, or configuredInterface), hpicfSrcIpAddrIfIndex, and hpicfSrcIpAddress. This is a configuration-oriented rather than a hardware-sensor MIB, but monitoring it is useful for confirming that management traffic like syslog, RADIUS, or TACACS+ is sourced from the expected, stable IP address rather than an interface's transient outgoing address, which matters for firewall rules and log correlation. It depends on InetAddress/InetAddressType from INET-ADDRESS-MIB and InterfaceIndexOrZero from IF-MIB, and is deployed on HP ProCurve/Networking routing switches; administrators can download the HP-ICF-SRCIP-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-SRCIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP ProCurve / HP Networking routing switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls hpicfSrcIpAddrPolicyTable for the syslog protocol index to confirm hpicfSrcIpAddrPolicy is set to configuredIpAddr and hpicfSrcIpAddress matches the expected management IP; if the policy reverts to outgoingInterface after a configuration change, syslog messages would suddenly appear to originate from a different, possibly unexpected source address.

What Can Be Monitored

  • source-IP policy per management protocol
  • configured source IP address
  • configured source interface index
  • address type (IPv4/IPv6) per policy entry
