Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for Out-of-Band Management (OOBM) interface configuration and status on HP ProCurve switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HP-ICF-OOBM-MIB?
HP-ICF-OOBM-MIB manages the Out-of-Band Management (OOBM) interface on HP ProCurve switches, the dedicated management port used to reach a device even when its in-band data-plane interfaces are down or misconfigured. It exposes configuration data for OOBM DHCP/BOOTP-style servers, default gateways (both chassis-wide and per-stack-member), and their addressing type and state through hpicfOobmServerTable, hpicfOobmDefGatewayTable, and hpicfOobmMemberDefGatewayTable. In terms of monitoring device status, it lets an administrator confirm whether the OOBM interface has a valid default gateway and reachable management server configured, which is critical to ensuring emergency/backup management access remains available if the primary network path fails. It has no major dependency beyond standard IP addressing conventions and the vendor's own ICF MIB family. It is deployed on stackable HP ProCurve/Aruba switches in enterprise networks where a resilient, isolated management path is required. Engineers can download the HP-ICF-OOBM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-OOBM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP ProCurve stackable switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin can walk hpicfOobmDefGatewayTable to verify hpicfOobmDefGatewayAddr is set correctly for each stack member, and check hpicfOobmServerTable's hpicfOobmServerType/hpicfOobmServerListenMode to confirm the OOBM server is listening as expected; a missing or stale gateway entry in hpicfOobmMemberDefGatewayTable would explain why remote management via the dedicated OOBM port has become unreachable for that stack member.
What Can Be Monitored
- OOBM default gateway configuration
- per-stack-member OOBM gateway address
- OOBM server type and listen mode
