Description: Manages software feature licenses and entitlements on ARRIS/Cadant CMTS platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CADANT-LICENSE-MIB?

CADANT-LICENSE-MIB is an ARRIS enterprise MIB for the E6000 CMTS platform that manages software feature licensing and entitlement tracking on the chassis. It exposes a per-license table with license keys, the channel counts and spare channel counts each license grants, and row-status for provisioning, alongside a separate status table reporting license type, chassis license usage, and requested-versus-used license counts. This is fundamentally a software/licensing status MIB, it lets an operator confirm whether the CMTS has sufficient licensed capacity for the channels it is trying to bring into service and catch cases where licenses are exhausted or misapplied. It is a Cadant/ARRIS-proprietary extension with no apparent dependency on a standard licensing MIB. It is deployed on ARRIS/Cadant (E6000) CMTS chassis in cable operator headends. Engineers can download the CADANT-LICENSE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CADANT-LICENSE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ARRIS/Cadant E6000 CMTS chassis

Monitoring Examples

An operator would compare cadChassisLicensesUsed against cadChassisLicensesRequested in cadChassisLicenseStatusTable to see if the chassis is short on licensed capacity before activating more upstream/downstream channels. Reviewing cadLicenseChannelCount and cadLicenseSpareChannelCount per entry in cadChassisLicenseTable shows how much headroom each individual license key provides. A cadChassisLicenseStatusType showing an invalid or expired state alongside a high cadChassisLicensesRequested value would explain why new channels fail to come into service.

What Can Be Monitored

  • licenses used vs requested
  • per-license channel/spare-channel count
  • license key status
  • license row/provisioning status
