Description: Paradyne HotWire xDSL interface MIB for managing xDSL subscriber line configuration and performance statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HOTWIRE-XDSL-INTERFACE-MIB?

HOTWIRE-XDSL-INTERFACE-MIB is a Paradyne (later Zhone) vendor MIB for the HotWire family of DSLAM and xDSL access equipment, extending standard xDSL management with Paradyne-specific remote-DTE (subscriber modem) status. It exposes data about the remote DSL endpoint's link state, injection type, and reasons for line drops, layered on top of interface-level configuration. Its core monitoring value is fault/status detection on the subscriber line, specifically reporting xdslLinkDownReason to distinguish training failures, noise, or administrative shutdown, alongside remote DTE status polled per line. It builds on and complements the standard IETF xDSL Line MIB / HDSL2-SHDSL-MIB framework rather than replacing it. It is deployed by telecom/broadband carriers operating Paradyne HotWire DSLAM chassis to manage large pools of subscriber DSL lines. Engineers can download the HOTWIRE-XDSL-INTERFACE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HOTWIRE-XDSL-INTERFACE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne/Zhone HotWire DSLAM
  • xDSL subscriber modem/DTE

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll xdslRemoteDTEStatusTable/xdslRemoteDTEStatusEntry rows, one per subscriber line, to see whether the remote modem is up, training, or down, and check xdslLinkDownReason when a row shows an outage to distinguish a customer-side power loss from line noise. The xdslRemoteInjectionType object would be checked when troubleshooting whether the correct signal injection mode is configured for a given line's distance/attenuation profile. A batch of lines all reporting the same xdslLinkDownReason value would indicate a shared-plant fault rather than isolated customer issues.

What Can Be Monitored

  • remote DTE link status
  • link down reason
  • remote injection type
  • per-line xDSL status
