Category: Technology: Switching/L2, VLAN and Bridging

Description: Cabletron/Enterasys hot domain switching MIB for managing dynamic VLAN and domain assignments in Cabletron SmartSwitch systems.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HOT-DOMAIN-MIB?

HOT-DOMAIN-MIB is a private MIB (imports PDN-HEADER-MIB, consistent with a Packet Data Network gateway platform) configuring per-VNID (virtual network/subscriber identifier) domain services on a card/port basis. Its card configuration table, keyed by VNID, records the domain name, mux-forwarding behavior, IP filtering and IP scoping settings, and a database-update trigger, alongside a related port configuration table. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm a VNID's domain name and filtering/scoping settings are correctly provisioned. It is deployed on packet data network gateway platforms managing per-subscriber VNID domains. Engineers can download the HOT-DOMAIN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HOT-DOMAIN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Packet data network gateway platforms (per-VNID domain services)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks pdnCardConfigDomainName and pdnCardConfigIPFiltering for a specific VNID to confirm domain and filtering settings match the subscriber's provisioned service profile.
