Description: HH3C MIB for Virtual Network Function (VNF) device management in NFV deployments on H3C platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HH3C-VNF-DEVICE-MIB?
HH3C-VNF-DEVICE-MIB is a private H3C enterprise MIB for managing virtual machines (VMs) that implement Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) on H3C NFV-capable platforms. It exposes a VM inventory table describing each VM's slot, name, type, role, and group, along with its operational state, attributes, and registration status with an external VNF manager (VNFM). Monitoring with this MIB is squarely about software/service status: it lets an operator confirm whether each virtualized network function instance is running, registered, and in the correct role (active/standby), which is the virtual-infrastructure analogue of process/service status monitoring on physical hardware. It depends on VNF management (VNFM) integration, reflected in the VNFM IP address/type objects, meaning full monitoring context often requires cross-referencing the external VNFM. It is deployed on H3C NFV platforms and universal customer premises equipment (uCPE) hosting virtualized network functions. Engineers can download the HH3C-VNF-DEVICE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-VNF-DEVICE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C NFV platforms / uCPE devices
Monitoring Examples
An administrator can poll hh3cVmInfoTable (via hh3cVmInfoEntry, keyed by hh3cVmSlot) to check hh3cVmState and hh3cVmRegisterStatus for each VNF instance, confirming it is running and successfully registered with the VNF manager. hh3cVmRole reveals whether a given VM instance is acting as active or standby in a redundant VNF pair, and an unexpected role flip alongside a hh3cVnfDeviceTraps notification would indicate a failover event. hh3cVnfmIP identifies which VNF manager the device is reporting to for cross-checking VM state.
What Can Be Monitored
- VM/VNF instance state
- VNF registration status with VNFM
- VM role (active/standby)
- VM type and group
- VNF manager IP association
- VNF device fault traps
