Description: H3C MIB for RAID array management on H3C storage systems monitoring RAID level, status, and disk health.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-RAID-MIB?

H3C-RAID-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB for monitoring RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) storage arrays on H3C servers and storage systems, providing visibility into array configuration and health. It exposes data such as the count of RAID arrays present, per-array identity (name, ID, UUID), RAID level, capacity and free space, member disk list, ownership, and a related capacity table. This is squarely a hardware-health monitoring MIB: it lets an administrator confirm the RAID level and status of each array, track total versus free storage capacity, and identify which physical disks belong to a degraded or rebuilding array — key indicators of impending disk failure or storage capacity exhaustion. It is a self-contained vendor-specific MIB with no strong dependency on standard IETF storage MIBs, functioning independently within H3C's device management framework. It is typically deployed on H3C rack/blade servers and storage appliances that use hardware RAID controllers. Engineers can download the H3C-RAID-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-RAID-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C rack and blade servers
  • H3C storage systems with hardware RAID controllers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk h3cRaidTable (h3cRaidEntry) keyed by h3cRaidId to read h3cRaidLevel, h3cRaidSize, and h3cRaidFreeSize for each array, comparing free versus total size to catch capacity exhaustion, and would cross-check h3cRaidDiskList against known-good disk counts to detect a missing or failed member disk. The h3cPrimaryRaidCount scalar gives a quick sanity check on how many arrays should exist, while h3cRaidCapacityTable offers a supplementary capacity breakdown; h3cRaidTimestamp helps confirm how current the reported RAID state is. A sudden drop in h3cRaidFreeSize or a RAID level reported as degraded would flag storage hardware needing attention.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RAID array count
  • RAID level per array
  • total and free array capacity
  • member disk list per array
  • array UUID/identity
  • array status/timestamp
