Description: Manages H3C Device Link Detection Protocol (DLDP) for unidirectional link detection on switch ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-DLDP-MIB?

HH3C-DLDP-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB for the Device Link Detection Protocol (DLDP), used to detect unidirectional links on switch ports that standard link-state detection cannot catch. It exposes global DLDP settings (work mode, system enable/reset, detection interval, authentication mode and password) as well as a per-port state table and a per-port DLDP configuration table. Its monitoring value is software/link-health focused: the per-port DLDP state reveals whether a port has been detected as unidirectional and potentially shut down (hh3cDLDPUnidirectionalShutdown), which is critical for catching fiber miswiring or one-way optical faults before they cause spanning-tree loops. It is a vendor-specific protocol MIB that complements standard IF-MIB port status by adding link-directionality detection not covered by IEEE 802.3/802.1D standards. It is deployed on H3C switches using fiber-optic uplinks where unidirectional link faults are a known risk. Engineers can download the HH3C-DLDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-DLDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hh3cDLDPPortStateTable/hh3cDLDPPortStateEntry to check hh3cDLDPPortState for each port, looking for a port reported as unidirectional after being flagged by hh3cDLDPUnidirectionalShutdown, which would explain an unexpected port shutdown despite the link light being up. Checking hh3cDLDPInterval and hh3cDLDPAuthenticationMode against hh3cDLDPSystemEnable would confirm DLDP is actively probing that port at the expected cadence. The hh3cDLDPTrapObject group would notify the admin in real time when a unidirectional link is first detected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port DLDP state (bidirectional/unidirectional)
  • DLDP detection interval
  • authentication mode for DLDP packets
  • unidirectional-link auto-shutdown status
