Description: An HP ICF SNMP MIB covering isolated port (private VLAN edge) configuration, which blocks traffic between isolated switch ports.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HP-ICF-ISOLATED-PORTS-MIB?
HP-ICF-ISOLATED-PORTS-MIB is an HP proprietary SNMP module belonging to the HP ICF family, used on HP ProCurve/Aruba switches to configure isolated ports (a private-VLAN-edge style feature) that block direct traffic between designated switch ports. Its exposed data is chiefly configuration state, defining which ports on a VLAN are set to isolated mode, rather than traffic counters or environmental sensors. In monitoring terms it is useful for confirming the software/feature configuration status of a switch, letting an operator verify that isolation is correctly applied on ports that are supposed to be segregated for security reasons. It is a self-contained extension MIB with its own conformance objects (hpicfDot1qIsolatedPortConformance) and depends conceptually on standard VLAN/dot1q bridge MIBs for VLAN context. It is typically deployed in access-layer switching environments such as shared hosting racks, guest networks, or multi-tenant wiring closets where port-to-port traffic must be prevented, and administrators can consult the HP-ICF-ISOLATED-PORTS-MIB MIB to verify isolation configuration.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-ISOLATED-PORTS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP ProCurve switch
- HP/Aruba networking switch
Monitoring Examples
The module exposes hpicfDot1qIsolatedPortConfigurationObjects, the branch holding per-port isolated-port configuration, alongside hpicfDot1qIsolatedPortConformance describing the conformance/compliance statements for the feature. An administrator would poll the configuration objects to confirm that specific ports remain flagged as isolated after a switch reboot or configuration push, since a port that silently reverts to non-isolated mode would be a security-relevant anomaly. There are no performance or fault counters in this MIB, only configuration and conformance branches.
What Can Be Monitored
- isolated port configuration status
- per-port VLAN isolation state
- conformance/compliance group status
