Category: Domain: Storage, Vendor: H3C/HH3C
Description: H3C MIB for monitoring physical disk drive status, capacity, and health in H3C storage and server equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-DISK-MIB?
H3C-DISK-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB for monitoring physical disk drives installed in H3C storage arrays, servers, or other devices with local disk storage. It exposes per-disk hardware attributes including port type and speed, total and free capacity, and physical indicator states such as location, run, and fault LEDs. This is explicitly a hardware-health MIB: h3cDiskRunLedState and h3cDiskFaultLedState directly report drive operational and fault status, h3cDiskFreeSpace tracks capacity exhaustion, and h3cDiskGlobalSpare identifies hot-spare disks available for automatic rebuild. It is an H3C-proprietary module with no stated dependency on IETF standards, though it is typically deployed alongside H3C's entity and environmental MIBs for full chassis health monitoring. It is deployed on H3C storage systems and servers equipped with hot-swappable physical disk drives, usually after an H3C-DISK-MIB download is loaded into the monitoring system's MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-DISK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C storage array
- H3C server with local disk storage
Monitoring Examples
Polling h3cDiskTable/h3cDiskEntry (indexed by h3cDiskIndex) lets an administrator watch h3cDiskFaultLedState transition to a fault condition and h3cDiskRunLedState go dark, signaling a failed drive that needs replacement. Tracking h3cDiskFreeSpace against h3cDiskSize across all disks flags an array approaching full capacity, while h3cDiskGlobalSpare confirms a spare is available to absorb a rebuild.
What Can Be Monitored
- disk capacity and free space
- disk fault LED state
- disk run LED state
- disk location/presence state
- disk port type and speed
- hot-spare disk availability
