What Is H3C-STORAGE-REF-MIB?
H3C-STORAGE-REF-MIB is a vendor-private H3C MIB that defines the shared textual conventions and common object types used across H3C's family of storage-management MIB modules. It does not itself define managed objects, tables, or notifications; it exists purely to hold reusable type definitions (such as enumerations for storage device or disk states) so that H3C's functional storage MIBs can reference a consistent vocabulary. There is no dedicated H3C-STORAGE-REF-MIB OID branch of pollable objects to look up, since the module registers no managed objects of its own. As a result it has no direct monitoring role on its own, but the types it defines underpin storage hardware/software status reporting - such as disk health, RAID/array state, and storage controller status - in the companion H3C storage MIBs that import from it. Its dependency is entirely inward-facing: other H3C storage-related MIB modules import these textual conventions rather than this module depending on anything external. It is used as a build-time/namespace dependency in H3C storage arrays, SAN switches, or storage controllers managed via SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-STORAGE-REF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C UniStor Polaris X20000 (2024) — next-gen AI data storage platform, distributed storage software
- H3C UniStor CF8850H — mid-to-high-end hybrid storage array, current product line
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only textual conventions (shared data types) and contains no MODULE-IDENTITY, tables, or runtime objects, so it exposes nothing an administrator could poll directly. Its type definitions are consumed by H3C's operative storage MIB modules that expose actual disk, array, and controller status objects. There is no standalone monitoring scenario for this reference module.
