Description: H3C MIB for Device Link Detection Protocol (DLDP) detecting unidirectional link failures on fiber connections.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-DLDP-MIB?
H3C-DLDP-MIB is an H3C private-enterprise MIB for the Device Link Detection Protocol (DLDP), a link-layer keepalive mechanism designed to detect unidirectional fiber-optic link failures that standard Ethernet auto-negotiation cannot catch, and to automatically shut down the affected port. It exposes global configuration (work mode, enable/reset controls, hello interval, authentication mode and password) as well as per-port operational state in a dedicated port-state table. Its monitoring focus is link/fault status: an operator checks each port's DLDP state to catch a unidirectional link before it triggers a bridging loop, and relies on trap notifications when the protocol automatically shuts down a suspect port. It operates alongside standard interface and spanning-tree MIBs (such as IF-MIB and BRIDGE-MIB) since it protects the same physical links those protocols manage. Deployment context is H3C switches interconnected via fiber-optic links in campus or data-center networks, where an undetected unidirectional link could otherwise cause a loop. Engineers can download the H3C-DLDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-DLDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C switch with fiber-optic uplinks
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls h3cDLDPPortStateTable/h3cDLDPPortStateEntry for h3cDLDPPortState on each fiber port to see whether it is normal, down, or flagged as unidirectional. h3cDLDPSystemEnable and h3cDLDPWorkMode confirm the protocol is active and operating in the intended mode, while h3cDLDPTrapObject notifications alert the operator when h3cDLDPUnidirectionalShutdown fires and the port is automatically disabled to prevent a loop.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-port DLDP link state
- DLDP enable state and work mode
- hello interval
- unidirectional-link automatic shutdown events
- authentication mode
