What Is HPN-ICF-LswTRAP-MIB?

HPN-ICF-LswTRAP-MIB is an HP Networking (Comware/ICF architecture) enterprise MIB defining SNMP trap notifications for Layer 2 switch (Lsw) events, such as port link-state transitions and MAC address table changes, on HP switches that share the H3C/Comware-derived ICF codebase. As a trap-focused module, it does not expose continuously polled tables but instead fires asynchronous notifications at the moment a monitored event occurs. Its monitoring value is fault/event-oriented: alerting operators in near-real-time to link up/down transitions and MAC learning/aging changes that indicate topology changes, flapping ports, or potential MAC-spoofing/loop conditions. It complements the standard IF-MIB linkUp/linkDown traps and the standard BRIDGE-MIB's forwarding-table concepts with HP/Comware-specific detail. It is deployed on HP Networking (Comware-based) switches in enterprise LAN environments where rapid notification of link or MAC-table events is needed. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-LswTRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-LswTRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP Networking (Comware/ICF-based) switches

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this MIB; a realistic scenario would involve an NMS receiving a link-state trap when a switch port goes down unexpectedly, or a MAC-change trap when a MAC address moves between ports faster than expected, which would flag a potential loop, flapping link, or unauthorized device on the network.
