Description: GroupWise WebAccess MIB for monitoring Novell GroupWise web client agent session count and service health.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is GWWEB-MIB?

GWWEB-MIB is a Novell GroupWise-specific MIB for monitoring the GroupWise WebAccess agent, the component that serves the GroupWise webmail client to browser-based users. It exposes per-agent-instance data on request completion and failure counts, worker thread pool utilization, and current and peak concurrent user session counts. This is a software service-health MIB: gwWebAccessCompletedRequests versus gwWebAccessFailedRequests shows request success rate, gwWebAccessBusyThreads/gwWebAccessTotalThreads/gwWebAccessPeakBusyThreads reveal whether the thread pool is saturated, and gwWebAccessCurrentUsers/gwWebAccessPeakUsers show session load. As a Novell-proprietary MIB it does not depend on IETF standards but is typically deployed alongside the other GroupWise agent MIBs in the same product suite. It is deployed on GroupWise WebAccess application/agent servers that front-end browser access to GroupWise mailboxes. Administrators searching for gwweb use this MIB to monitor Novell GroupWise WebAccess session activity via SNMP.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GWWEB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Novell GroupWise WebAccess agent server

Monitoring Examples

An operator polling gwWebAccessTable/webAccessEntry (indexed by gwWebAccessIndex) would watch gwWebAccessBusyThreads approach gwWebAccessTotalThreads as a sign of thread exhaustion under load, corroborated by a spike in gwWebAccessFailedRequests. Comparing gwWebAccessCurrentUsers to gwWebAccessPeakUsers helps size capacity ahead of expected peak login periods.

What Can Be Monitored

  • completed vs failed web requests
  • total and busy worker threads
  • peak busy threads
  • current active users
  • total and peak user sessions
