Description: Declares agent capability statements for Cisco SLB extended MIB features on Catalyst 6500 CSM and LocalDirector.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-SLB-EXT-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-SLB-EXT-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module stating which features of CISCO-SLB-EXT-MIB (extended Server Load Balancing management) are supported on platforms such as the Catalyst 6500 Content Switching Module (CSM) and LocalDirector. It belongs to Cisco's server load-balancing/content-switching product area. It carries no data of its own, only declarations of which object groups and compliance statements from CISCO-SLB-EXT-MIB a given device supports. As a pure capabilities module it has no bearing on hardware/software status monitoring directly — it contains no counters, health, or fault objects — serving only to describe feature support. It fully depends on, and is meaningless without, CISCO-SLB-EXT-MIB, and it is used by network/application-delivery management systems during capability discovery against Cisco CSM or LocalDirector load-balancing devices. Engineers can download the CISCO-SLB-EXT-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-SLB-EXT-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Catalyst 6500 Content Switching Module (CSM)
- Cisco LocalDirector
Monitoring Examples
CISCO-SLB-EXT-CAPABILITY has no sample runtime objects (sample_objects is empty) — it consists solely of AGENT-CAPABILITIES clauses referencing CISCO-SLB-EXT-MIB's object groups and compliance statements per supported platform. There is no realistic polling scenario for this module itself; its only function is to let an NMS confirm, before polling, whether a given CSM or LocalDirector device supports extended SLB statistics objects.
